volvo s80 not maintaining is idle and stop

I need to maintain my idle at 1, 500 rpm minimum otherwise my car stop. All this happens when I try to bypass a car and I needed to accelerate by pressing the gaz pedal to the max. My engine stop and since that event, I have that problem. I have a check engine message. Can I continue to drive the car until I go back to my dealer which is actually located at 800 km when I am now since I am in vacation. Do you have any fix for me. This is a Volvo s80, 1999 with 260, 000 km.
