Hello!

When I try to drive off, first gear doesnt switch smooth, the gear box waiting a little(half second or so) and then it engage 1st gear, maybe oil needs to be topped up or replaced, the rest of the gears works smooth

I own a Volvo S60. currently my mechanic has advise me that my gear box is playing up. how much would it cost me to get it fixed? Whats the price of getting a new one or a second hand.

Volvo parts are really hard to find!!

Auto change from 1 to 2nd does not change smoothly

a thud when gear change takes place. This does not always happen.Recently cruise will not engage and when car is stationary the engine starts to rev. and drop intermittenly.

i have just purchased a second hand volvo s60 automatic and do not understand why there is a third and fourth manual gear which apprently can be used for better fuel consumption? the handbook does not explain how this works, or under what conditions it should be used. can someone pleas throw some light on this.
