My wifes 1991 Volvo 740 Wagon has had an ongoing (6-12 months) intermittent problem. When she tries to start it cold, the engine shakes (violently) and sputters until it dies. We have:1)checked and cleaned the fuel injectors
2)Changed the spark plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap
3)replaced the fuel filter
5)added gas additive
6)replaced the fan and alternator belts and hoses
7)replaced the timing belt
We have put some money into it and the maintenance records from the party we bought it from was comprehensive. We are at our wits end and would love some insight into what actually is wrong with the car. Thanks for your reply.
