Removal of heater fan / turbine. My heater blower sounds as if it has a bad bearing and or a loose fan. Can you supply me with the simpliest instructions for fan and or motor removal / access along with a diagram of the heater / blower housing assembly. For a 1990 Volvo 240 DL Wagon

I had the same problem, 1986 240DL. I bought the service manual, parts and went at it. The dealer wanted $1000 to repace a $50.00 part so I thought I could save a bundle. Half way through I would of payed the grand if I had it. To do the job you must remove just about everything down to the firewall. The blower, heater core, and ac heat exchanger are all contained in a round plastic housing about the size of your sisters travel bag. It takes time and patience and the whole thing is a tight fit going back in. The service manual is of little use. Be sure to mark all the different wires as you remove them. It looks simple coming off but all lights ect get a little confusing. If you can ever get the over sized hat box out that contains the blower you got it made. It is bolted to the fire wall and braced to the floor. Braking the heater core hoses lose is tricky and if you are not carefull you can damage the core. I ended up cutting my hose and replacing it. If you don't have the patience don't try it yourself. A lot of people have attempted this repair and ended up towing the car to the dealer. Good Luck
