removing passenger side inside door panel

2003 passat. For some reason the passenger side door does not unlock and therefore I can`t open it. I presume there must be something loose inside the door. However is it possible to remove the inide door panel with the door shut? I`ve managed to remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the panel and the 2 screws on inside door handle but the panel still seems very attached.With the dorr shut it seems impossible to remove the clips.
