I have been having some problems with the starter on my 2001 eurovan camper. At times the starter will not engage and detection shows that no power is going to the starter. I have to "hot wire" the starter to get it going. I unhook the hot wire to the starter from the ignition switch and go directly to the battery and it starts. However when I re-hook the standard wire it starts again. I have replaced the ignition switch and was told thats what the problem was, however it happened again. Any ideas?

Got a vw caravelle 1.9 diesel n reg, now and again there is a knocking sound coming from the front left wheel area, its had new drive shaft on the left plus new cv joint. Noise comes and goes, any ideas as its doing my head in????

I Recently Purchased a Rebuilt starter for my Eurovan camper, ( 1992). It is a Bosch starter which was rebuilt by Dixie. I installed the starter on the van, started it numerous times to ensure that it was working properly, and it was, .I drove up the road to pick up some paint, but about a mile (km) from my home i got this awful noise from the starter area, I stopped the vehicle raise the hood, the starter was spinning, Not engaged, but spinning, i quickly removed the battery cable But it continued spinning, I removed the power cables from the starter but it continued for another minute, finally it stopped, I replaced the cables and started it and drove it home. any ideas guys?.Bob Fraize

when was the last time you had changed the plugs wires, air filters and plug wires? better get a detailed description of what happens after you try to start it.

'93 Euroval GL 2.5 / Replaced Starter won't disengage / Tests fine / Noe Ignition won't stay on ?

I turn on the ignition on my 2002 VW Eurovan full camper, a short beep sounds, the engine starts but immediately dies. Any idea what this could be due to? Weak battery?

At Pop Top Heaven, you can find quality Eurovan or Vanagon. Used camper vans that we sell are in good condition, thoroughly cleaned and repaired.

The Eurovans looked nice, but they cost is high. sigh. Guess ya had to be a rich NYTimes writer to afford one.
