I have to replace a rod bearing in my '93 tercel, does the engine have to come out and apart for that or can i just drop the oil pan and remove the bearing?

Removing the engine could be risky but then again, who says there is always a recommended way of doing things? You can singly remove the bearing coz that looks like a 'less risky' option. Bearing replacement should be easy but if you are the extra careful type, geta dealer to handle that. It all depends on the bearing's size.Hope you get to fix that pretty soon. Let me know how it goes..

Think i have to agree with what moy advised the original poster. There is nothing wrong with a little risky move with your car, it is your property anyway and you can seek for help later if the damage is big enough, (i dont know)..However, you can always ask for professional help if you are in doubt. This way you can make sure that your car is in the right hands..

That would be best if you do so, but i would suggest that if you do not have any idea on the matter then just leave it to the experts. That way you can lessen the chance of developing further damage. There are lots of professional out there so make use of their service. maybe some of them are costly but then it would be worth it if you see your stuff doing good again.

Leaving everything to the experts make them wealthier with every job we give them.. Have we ever think of doing things our own way. You see, there are lots of self help blog, do it your self books and you can see also lots in the net. So why not learn from the books and the net and do the job by your self so we can save us some professional fees.

Yeah, with us facing this economic difficulties, it is a nice thing that there are lots of do it your self guides. But sometimes even with those guides we still need some sort of professional help so that we may not be misled at all.It is ok that we save money but we also have to admit to ourselves that we need help and we have to seek help.
