If it's just in need of a clean out, IE; you don't want to strip and clean, then it's a really simple method - both for a carby motor and an efi motor.Step one - locate the inlet-air pipe.
When you find it, follow it back to the throttle-body.
If it's a carby, you just found the carby!
If it's efi, it's a throttle body in truth - carbys include a throttle and therefore don't requite a 'throttle body'.
Step 2 - Remove all that piping.
Be careful not to break stuff!
Step 3 - (and you'll need a can of carby-cleaner for this!)
Spray the carby-cleaner in the carby/throttle. Using a rag, scrub off as much carbon as you can. You will need to push against the throttle valve to do it.
NB: If the throttle valve does not move easily, DO NOT FORCE IT!
Step 4 - Start the engine.
It will run like a bag of crap until the cleaner is all used up.
Now spray more of the cleaner in the carby/throttle while you hold it on Wide Open Throttle.
Don't keep it there for very long - a few seconds will be fine.
The cleaner will make the revs drop and may stall the engine.
Do this step a couple of times if you want.
Step 5 - Put all the pipes back on!
Don't forget to plug in any wiring you may have had to unplug!
Enjoy :D
