I need help diagnosing a problem---my mechanic is having fits over this too. Problem: Occassionally (a lot more frequently lately) the car will begin to run very rough--feels like it's only hitting on 3 or 4 cylinders. The exhaust is white, and smells like unburnt fuel. Sometimes it clears itself up in a matter of 1-2 minutes, sometimes it will last for 20 minutes or so. Does anyone have any ideas?

if the smoke is white then that means its buring oilIf its black that means its burning too rich.. (unburned gasolean) if it has a hard time starting in the mornings, and runs better at higher rpms. then you could need some new compression rings= new motor. But if its black smoke then problem is probably your map censor or something causing your map censor to read wrong like unpluged vaccum hose or hole in the vaccum hose. a bad map censor or unplugged vaccum hose can make it run rough and even miss after a long period of time.

Hi, I am having a Toyota Camry Model 97, 135K mileage.v6 For the last 2 weeks, iM facing a problem like, when I brake and idle for some time(like on Red signals), then I try to accelerate the car, it really take 5-10 seconds to start moving and you need to apply gas pedal so hard. The pick up of the car was so good earlier(since it V6) and now after i break the car, its really bad. What can be the root cause of the issue? Thanks
