My 2000 toyota Camary stalled in the middle of the road. I towed to toyota dealer, he told me engine needs to be replaced, it will cost 6800 and then I towed to other body shop they told me we will rebuild your engine for 2800. Is it worth to spend this much moneny on this car? Where can i get replacement engine for cheap? This car has 140K mileage on it. I asked the bodyshop guy, if i want to sell, how much will you pay, he told 200 or 300.Please help me what is the best for me.Thanks in advance.

First is to think whether the old engine is beyond fixing or that it requires labor to repair that it is better for replacement. That will cost you a lot.

bought a 2000 Toyota Camry 2.2 liter engine 5 spd manual transmission used 127K miles..replaced timing belt and water pump appears to have the oil gel problem that was noted in class action law suit...considering replacing entire engine...car still runs...but got some problems...walk away from it...rebuild engine...or replace it...I don't know the answer
