i just got a 86 samurai it has a major oil leak around back of head or were intake meets head in the back on passenger side i cant tell were its coming from i didnt know if this was a comon prob that maybe someone could help me with

I had the same problem. I would drive 20 miles, and lose a quart of oil. It turned out to be the fuel pump. The mechanical fuel pump is operated by a push rod from the camshaft.The fuel pump was worn to the point that it was letting oil from the camshaft get past the diaphram. The oil was squirting out of the metal drain tube on the fuel pump. Hope this helps you, and best of luck.

I just replaced my oil pump gasket and oil pan gasket. After placing it all back together and cranking it over, I have oil coming out on the left side, opposite of the dip stick. Out of the oil pump gasket about an inch above my oil pan. Some people have told me I need to put a silicon rubber seal also on the gasket. Could this be my problem?

I have a Samurai 86 with the same problem, but the leak is for the oil cap. I try to fix changing the cap seal, but the leak continue. Somebody can help me??

i have a 95 vitara 1600 underneath the fuel diaphram there is a pinhole drilled into the aluminuim pump housing. i thought it was gasket leaks and then a diaphram leak.havining swapped the pump with a donor pumpwhich i know worked, i have now got exactly the same problem. any ideas im losing my patience!!!

got violent with problem pump which i broke open to see how it works. tiny oil seal in the bottom which has perished. i probably have the same problem with donor pump so i think a new one is in order!
