Gas tank wont fill

So my tank is empty, I go to the gas station. I try to fill it. The nozzel shuts off as if the tank was full. I tried to adjust the nozzel at different angles and still it would shut off. I asked the owner of the station if he was low on gas or something, he said no. So I leave and I go to my usualy gas station, my favorite pump (3) and try again. Same thing. Can't get it to fill.

What could be the problem? Any advice? I'd like to have a few idea's going into the machanic so I don't get totally bonned.
