I am working on a 2.5 v6 900s 5 door 1996 model.I need to get the dipstick tube out so I can remove the front exhaust manifold to replace a leaky manifold gasket.I've undone the dipstick tube retaining bolt that also holds an engine lifting bracket & the thermostat cover & I've completely removed the bolt.I've tried to pull on the dipstick tube...it seems loose but maybe there's a clip behind the A/C bracket, maybe not.Do I just need to pull harder?I don't want to do any damage.

Think I answered my own question.....Visited Saabwreck in Oakleigh where I asked the question.Staff was very helpful...let me take a tour of the workshop where I was shown a number of 900s engines in various states of disassembly, all with the dipstick tube still attached....turns out that tube may be interference fit in sump & should not be removed...it can be carefully bent out of the way for performing various jobs such as head gasket repair & such--Now why couldn't someone tell me that on this site?
