My car alarm is going off for no good reason. Is there a fuse I can pull until I get it to a garage?

You can pull the fuse - it's marked but it will shut off the air conditioner too so don't do it in the summer. Unfortunately, once SAAB was purchased by GM, the alarm unit was sealed and when the battery dies about 100K, you need to replace the entire unit for almost $500. No wonder GM is going bankrupt! Does anyone know of a universal car alarm that will work on a SAAB 9-5??

I just purchased a 1997 Saab 900 SE. I am having problems starting my car due to the alarm system. Not sure if there is a short, if my key pad needs a battery or something other than that. It finally starts after i open & close all the windows, doors, etc. I shift into neutral, reverse, park, turn the key a hundred more times and it finally starts. Does anyone have a better method of starting this car. Thanks so much, Eileen

A shorterm fix till you replace the batteries is to manually lock the front door while it is closed from the back door then lock and close the back door. I Don't know why this works but it keeps it from randomlly gonig off in the middle of the night. I think it assumes somebody is sitting in the car with the doors locked so it won't arm. It's a hassle but its small price to pay to keep neighbors from showing up with a shotgun. I been doing it for 2 years now, too lazy to remove batteries from under wheelwell.

Hi, Just purchased a 1999 Saab 9-5. I'm having trouble engaging the lock component on the alarm remote. The unlock and trunk feature works on the alarm but it will not lock when I get out of the car. Any suggestions? Thanks, kim

o yeah, my 99 saab 95 had the exact same alarm problem so one morning i just took out the fuse and didn't worry about it agin, but then i didn't know that it was connected to the a/c.... that's such a random connection! so six months later i finally got my a/c back now that i figured out that they were linked!
