My 1988 also has a similar problem, still, after the master clutch cylinder and slave clutch cylinder had been replaced and bled. Does it mean the car needs new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing (or is it release bearing). Please help.

Drew Don't listen to the people that say they are unsafe and horrible cars. They aren't. The Fiero is actually a very safe and very strong car due to the space frame. Unless neglected and broken, they don't have cooling issues either. The fire issue that everyone likes to talk about was limited to the early 4 cylinder models. And 86 won't have any problem. As far as insurance goes, I'm a young driver as well and the insurance on the Fiero was quite a bit cheaper than our other cars. And mine is a GT. Since they share parts with other GM vehicles they are fairly inexpensive to fix. There are no real bad features of the car. A lot of what people like to talk about is the bad press that the 84's got. As far as the good goes: you'll understand as soon as you drive it. They handle very well, and while they aren't fast by today's standards, the V6 is not slow either. And if you feel the performance is lacking, there are several options for engine swaps that will make the car faster than just about everything you'll see on the street. In the end, don't make your decision based on the people that have nothing positive to say about it. Just about everything you will ever need to know about the car can be found here:http://www.fiero.nl/

My '88 Formula has a periodic problem where I can not engage the transmission. I push in the clutch and it will not go into gear. When this happens, the clutch pedal seems to feel a bit soft. I don't feel the resistance I usually feel.

I have issues with my transmission. When the clutch is fully depressed I can shift the car into gear but it has no resistance and nothing engages. What are your thoughts and where should I start looking?
