Rear door handle - Nissan-Pathfinder
Rear door handleFolks,
Just looking for a little help. Rear door handle on 2000 Pathfinder has become un attached, and inside handle will not open the door. Tried removing door at hinges, no luck. Tried removing inside panel, and did not know exactly how to do it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem with the driver side rear door.
All the attachments to undo the inside upholstery panel are unaccessible when the door is closed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have same problem, i have a 2005 and managed to get panel of by taking out ashtray and undoing screw and removing, then prise the cover on door opener inside and undo screw, then lift the elbow rest upwards and when removed undo three screws, this allows access to the lock but unable to undo it, will have totake into garage and pay their over the top prices.
Hi there. Were you able to fix this one already? just hire a local mechanic for assistance man.
I had this issue with the exterior handle not working and the child lock on so could not open the door from inside. I fixed this with a simple flexible bit of plastic to slide past the rubber trim to flick the child lock lever to the off position which then allowed me to open the door. Then access to the exterior door handle fixing bolts was easy, just behind some rubber grommets. Removing the door handle was simple but don't drop the nuts inside the door cavity! Unclipping the cable that works the door catch and refixing with a new door handle was also quite simple once the door was opened.
Malcolm nice one mate. I too had the child locks on, used a plastic ruler and flicked the lock up...brillant.
Once opened, just undone both nuts behind the rubber gromets just as you said, then lifted the handle off. In my case the little bar behind the handle slide down leaving the handle loose at the top allowing the little white clip to pop to the wrong side of the lever.
To anyone else reading this, take the little bar completely out this will easily allow the white clip to pop back to the right side of the lever, then push the bar back in, right to the top..that's it, now just put the handle back on and do up the nuts, being careful not to drop them inside the door...
Job done, and no main dealer bill...lol
wanted to buy rear left and right hand passenger door handle to suit pathfinder 2005 wagon. colour preferred gun metal grey or dark colour
I tried what you guys suggested thinking maybe the child lock was actuated. It wasnt. I tested both rear doors for lenght of pull before the lock releases the door. The door with the non-working handle has more slack. Does anyone have any suggestion(s). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Trick for not losing nuts in door jam - Use blue tac in the socket. Also as we did not have a new cable, we used cable ties to secure the old outer cable to the mounting bracket.

Really useful tips. The plastic strip to flip the child safety lock worked well then I had to take it all apart because the pivot/axle on the handle had dropped so far that the handle would not come out of the door (and there was a lot if play in the handle). But once that was pushed back it all went together again fine. Minor tip. While not dropping the nuts inside the door try not to have the 10mm socket drop off the extension bar into the door. Nice to know where there is a spare one I suppose!
All fixed at zero cost.
