i have a 2000 nissan frontier, the instrument cluster sometimes shut off completely, then back on, the engine light is on showing the speed sensor problem and it had been change but problem stays, my question is before i purchase a cluster, do you know if it will cost the engine light come on if it fails?thanks, any input would be helpfulJohn

you are talking about two problems. One of which is very common. There are three plug terminals on the back of the gage set. The farthest one to the right, with you looking at the gagues is the problem, if the whole unit cuts out. Replacing the gages will not fix the problem...well it might but it would only do so inadvertantly. If you were to remove the gage cluster and remove the right most clip, carefully bend the circut connectors on the cluster back so more of them will touch the clip, replace the clip... and your problem is solved. Your other problem is either a computer that needs to be reflashed to erase the code, an improper tire size, or a faulty speed sensor was installed.

I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier v6 Super Charge Crew Cab. The Speedometer, Tach, and GearShift Selector lights went out. All other lights work. The gauges work, I just can't see them at night. A mechanic said is was the instrument cluster but since the gauges work, I don't believe this is true. I've checked all fuses and they are good. Any advice as to the cause of this would be appreciated.
