Ok so I bought a 1980 280zx that was restored by a ghetto plumber .... he replaced the heater control valve by running straight hose from the radiator to the passenger floor boards and and back... instead of having the valve he replaced it with a water hose valve off his house... I have a Chilton manual on the car but it is no help... this is my first restoration project and I am wondering does anyone know how to take the dash out with out removing every single screw? I also have a part that is from the drivers side that has the rear window wiper and a dimmer switch I am wondering does anyone know how to remove the knobs so that I may replace mine. Thanks! Anything is a help!

The heater control valve is no longer avaliable from Nissan, right now you can only get a used one and take your chances. As far as the dash goes, yes you have to take out almost every screw, find youself a factory manual on ebay. good luck! Joe

The heater in my friends 280zx does not work. It is full of coolant, new thermostat, and the heater valve works. The fan works but only blows cold air. The temp gauge shows that the engine is at normal operating temp, and still nothing but cold air. Any help?

The knobs are removed from behind the switch as they are have a washer and nut on them you can carefully remove the switch from the dash and do this, or do it from behind and under the steering wheel. As for the heater Issue...for the friend: That could be the heater core is plugged up....or a bad heater core!!
