I had the same problem.. when I contacted the dealer they gave me code 0488.. Hope this helps

I have a mitsubishi montero sport 2000, I have a problem with my radio, it locked on me when my battery died and I need a code to restart it , I already entered 5 codes people gave me but it says err1, err2 and the third time it goes off and I have to wait 2 weeks to enter a new code again, if somebody can help me, I will appreciate it.

I have a Montero Sport 2001, and when the batery die the radio dosenīt work, and have a messege in the scren (OFF).

This information is for 2000 montero sport, but I believe it will work for all models.

To get the code do this;

1. remove the bezel/plastic cover off the radio.

2.remove the 4 screws holding the radio in position.(IT TAKES 5-10 MINUTES TO DO THAT; VERY EASY)

3.slide the radio out.

4.write down the radio model number(it begins with MR) and serial number.

5.write down the last 8 characters of your VIN number.

6.Call mitsubishi at 1888-648-7820.

7. Give the info to them and they will give you the code for FREE.

8. DO NOT PAY ANYBODY TO GIVE YOU THE CODE

9. WRITE THE CODE DOWN FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
