1988 mecurey tracer, auto trans, when you first accellerate the car, it is gutless until it shifts to second gear, then has abundance of power. Have been told it is a micro like type on the trans that needs replaced, or is in in the fuel system?

it could be something with the fuel system.. maybe something as simple as a fuel filter or fuel pump. But from the sounds of it, you may have a cylinder misfiring.. which can be caused from a couple things, maybe in your wiring. you can get an electrical diagnostic to determine that. but on of the most popular reasons for misfire is compression leaks. you would want to go get a compression test.. But before you do anything, you need to get a diagnostic on your car so it will tell you whats messing up and then you can find the source of the problem.. Good Luck.

Anybody, Did anything fix this particular problem? I have a 2000 Mystique LS with the exact same symptoms....I'm not sure if its fuel, air or sensor related (or all three). Thanks, Dan
