I'm looking at getting a Mercedes 190E, 200K miles. it used to run, but doesn't now, perhaps only because it's been sitting for 2 years unused. owner says it probably needs a new catalytic converter, but otherwise, is in good shape (overlooking the not-running part). without the converter, it definitely won't pass inspection in NY.

does anyone have an opinion on whether this is worth getting cheap, or should I walk away?

any help is appreciated.

you should probably walk away from it there is going to be more problems then u think especially since its been sitting for 2 years....gas tank is probably rusted inside even though uit looks fine on the outside it will most likely have serious fuel delivery problems mine sat for 3 years and i had to replace fuel pump fuel tank CIS-E control unit ignition coil idle air control motor and those parts are not cheap

gas tank from MB....620.22

idle air control motor from MB.....389.90

ignition coil from MB....169.70

CIS-E control unit from MB....987.30 luckily every year model with the same engine used the same comtrol unit so i bout it for 50 mucks from a scrap yard

fuel pump i bought from NAPA for 180

but now that the car runs beautifully i love it it drives great and has been so far very reliable
