Cruise control light on dash works, but cruise does not. Have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, any idea's??

I had the same cruise control problem with my 2005 jeep unlimited, except at the same time the defrost vent was the only vent that would work, not floor or middle.

Found that my pet cats had crawled under the hood to keep warm and had knocked a vacuum line from the right side of the engine. When I reconnected the vacuum line both cruise and vents worked properly again.

I have a similar problem with my 05 unlimited rubicon. The cruise control and vents went out, and the check engine light came on. I found the vacuum hose that came off and placed it back where it belongs... the ac works fine now, but the light stays on and the cruise control does not work. Also, I noticed that I cannot go beyond 3200 rmps. I have tried to reset the computer by unplugging it or disconnecting the battery, but this only works for 2 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Your advice was bang on for my jeep. Cruise light was on, but wouldn't set a speed. Only my windshield vents worked, not the center ones. A vaccuum line on the left side was pulled out and once I reattached it the cruise started working and the middle vents started to work, as well.
