95 Grand Cherokee blower fan for inside climate control stopped working. It made some noise for a couple of days, now not working at all. Any suggestion? Thanks.

I had a similar problem that I just repaired yesterday. First You need to check the red wire that goes into the blower fan to make sure you are getting power. If you are not I would pull the resistor out of the unit to inspect it. This is a $70 but you can find one at your local Pull-A-Part or salvage yard for much of nothing. If that is good I would start back-tracking on your wiring. I ended up finding two melted ground wires in a plug direcly behind the glove box, in front of AC unit. I repaired the two wires and now it works like a charm. I have no idea how this happened, I wonder if the previous owner hooked up the battery backwards or something like that. The plug that had the melted wires is white but is wrapped in some type of thin foam material. At first glance you could not even tell there was a problem with the plug, I pulled back the foam wrap and saw the slightly melted plastic. Upon further inspection I saw that the wires were slightly melted a few inches away from the plug. I hope this helps. Shannon

I had the same problem with my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. The fan blower stopped working and AC and heater wouldn't work either. On top of that Texas summer 105 F outside.I suspected the problem with blower motor, Climate Control unit(CCU) and Blower motor resister(BMR - this is right under the glove box). It turned out to be BMR(cost anywhere from $50 to $120 depending on where you buy). On top of that, the ground wire on connector to the BMR got burnt. My solution. I got the new BMR, insulated the connector wire properly. You can also solder the 3 wires directly into the BMR male extentions. Remember the CCU would not work if the BMR is bad. You will not get power to CCU either. Total cost to fix was about $130. If you are still experiencing problems it could be your blower motor($40-$80) or the CCU($150- $200 on eBay). CCU is very easy to replace. Hope all this information helps.

My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee had an intermittent blowerproblem. The blower would not work at all on low speed and just sometimes on the other speeds. After replacing the resistor(which probably did not need replacing) I found that the blower motor needed to be replaced. On my 1999 model it was a pretty easy job. I first disconnected the electrical, then removed the pass.side kick panel, then removed the 3 blower motor mounting screws(torx), and with a bit of tilting removed the blower assembly

Ugh... I needed to replace my resistor so I started on google and found a good deal on this site call West Michigan Auto Parts. I thought I'd post it in case it might help someone else. :)

My whole climate control system in my 2001 Grand Cherokee now now seems to work only on an intermitent basis. Fuse is good, and when it stops working the AC, Heater, blower and rear window defogger all stop. Any thoughts on whether it is the climate control unit or blower motor resistor or something else? If it is the resister, would that kill all power to to the CC unit and thus make the defogger not work? I checked the connector on the blower motor control module (since I thought that might be it), but there is no damage there. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have the 98 GC manual climate control and my fan worked for a short time on the lower settings, now it has nothing at all. I replace the blower motor and it kicked on for about 30 seconds then nothing. I suspect the resistor is the problem but i'm not sure. Is the resistor hard to get to? where is it located? any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

95 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to dissapoint me. The cavalcade of AC problems seems to feed on each other. Clogged drain due to oversized holes in cowl screen allowed leaves to enter. Water backed up all the time sloshed around and shorted out the air blend actuater and now the blower resister. (We have since had to rip out the carpet due to the water flooding and mildew smell) The blower is now stuck on high and NEVER turns off. Even when the car is off! Prior to this we have been disconnecting the blower cause we found that it was draining the battery every few days. A DMM and lots of time found that with the car off, the blower motor circuit was pulling a constant 320 ma. Yikes. Remember all of this nonsense started cause some oak tree leaves got through the cowl screen.See: Chrysler TSB: 24-06-96 So now Im trying to replace the blower resistor and the part is nowhere to be found. Even the Delco website is unable to find THEIR own part. All of the resisters I see for my 95 JGC are different shape and do not have the ATC. Anyone have a source for the right part? I Should just buy another jeep so I can pick out the parts.

My 1999 Cherokee Classic has, almost since if was bought, had a problem of something draining the battery. I've had it in and out of shops and no one can find a reason. I have to drive it in the summer (this is the winter-snow car) every few days to keep it charged. Any thoughts?
