1999 Grand Jeep Cherokee Stalling - Jeep-Grand Cherokee
1999 Grand Jeep Cherokee StallingMy 1999 Grand Jeep Cherokee will stall while I'm driving or sometimes while you're moving you will have no power & then all of a sudden it will rev up. Please help!!
Also, my heater doesn't work. Nothing blows out the vents, as you get going at a decent speed you will feel a little bit. Any ideas?

I've had enough! My 1999 jeep grand cherokee, keeps stalling out on me. It runs great for a while and then it'll just shut down. Sometimes it takes anywhere from 30min.-2 hours just to start back up...... any suggestions?
this has happened to me twice my truck will go completely dead after getting the battery recharged the truck ran real good for a week and a half but after that it went dead again but this time after getting it jumped off the truck wont crank back up what could be wrong with it do i need to just buy a new battery or is my alternater not working PLEASE HELP ME!!!
This happened to me and I replaced the crankshaft positioning sensor, and it works great now. It was so frusterating because my truck would just stall on the free way but then it would start up after awhile. The sensor is pretty cheep, about $25, but kind of a pain to find on the engine. Once you find it it goes in pretty quick. Hope that helps.
I just got my crankshaft positioning sensor changed in my 1999 Grand Cherokee. I'll post back if the car goes 2-3 weeks without stalling.
My 99 grand Cheroke larado stahls after driving for awhile and after sitting for a few minutes, it will start up and run. What is this problem? I dint even like to drive as much any more.
I have a 99 grand cherokee laredo that i just brought in to have tranny fluid and filter done. Since getting it back it shifts funny (shifts up and down on its own (while keeping the gas steady), revs high with a delayed shift, and it stalls out when i am coming to a stop or while stopped (it is an automatic but it feels like someone who is learning to drive a standard). It also gives off a melted plastic/ oily smell as it stalls/ is about to stall... Any ideas??
Well so far so good, the fact that it's gone this far without stalling is a good sign. And on that model Jeep the sensor will not come back with a code and your check engine light will not come on. My Jeep was doing the same thing at any temp or speed. Could be 35 on a side street or 75 on the parkway and out of nowhere...stall. I'm taking a bigger trip on Saturday. If it makes there and back without stalling I'll post again.
I am having the same problem as many of you with my 99 Grand Cherokee Laredo, It will stall at any speed, gauges all fail, then I wait a few minutes the gauges will begin moving again and it starts...This is very frustrating... I see posts where people have tried the crankshaft positioning sensor, , , has this cured the problem??
replacing the crankshaft positioning sensor will not solve the problem as I just replaced it one week ago and it stalled again. Today, it stalled three times. Hope someone can find a solution to fix this problem.

I have a 99 GC. I have had the same issues as most of you have with the random stalling. There are no codes shown, no check engine light, NOTHING. Just random stalling. I bought the Crank position sensor but have not put it in yet, because a tech at JEEP said that the 10mm bolt could break off and its obviously in a difficult position to get to if it breaks. Has anyone one had any issues with the bolt breaking off while trying to replace sensor?
when my crank sensor went my truck just died and wouldn't start. replaced it and good for 7 mon. now stalls randomly going down the road. saw on other forums people talking about looseing two screws on the ecm mounted on the firewall(#15 torx) about 1/4 in.i did that and havent had incident for two days.Iwill keep you posted.i hope this helps you, i know the feeling.
The crankshaft sensor is the solution sometime, other solutions are: clean the ecu connectors and reapply dialectic grease, the camshaft sensor, make sure all of the grounds are good and connected, The throttle body sensor, fuel filter/pump(keep in mind this and the tb sensor only apply to stalling while stationary, the filter/pump will cause the vehicle to not start and is therefore easy to diagnose and/or you can just use a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail) and the last two things are the relays (switch them around) or the ECU itself (the computer can be expensive so i would replace it as a last resort, and do the 1/4 inch screw replacement first)
Hi, , I was having the same problem qith my 03 JGC... I change the Crankshaft Position sensor, and all backs to normallity.. but I remember that I read a post in here, about the same problem... in there some one mentions two screws that need to be replaced and that fix the problem... look for a theme that reads "stall" or something like that.. I try to find it and post again ...nice day to all...

I replaced the fuel filter and the check engine light came on but I do not know how to get it to show the codes?? My wife drove it yesterday and said it did it again... could it be something with the ignition system? Can somebody with mechanical or practical knowledge and first hand experience help me?? PLEASE??
