My Jeep has a remote door lock/unlock module on my key ring. as I was returning from a day trip yesterday, the interior overhead lights were coming off and on and you could head the door locks engaging/disengaging. I tried driving it without the remote in the car but the result was the same. I consulted my Haynes manual but could find no reference to this problem. Any help/info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Dude,

Open the drivers door and you will see a rubber boot

connecting the door to the chassis. Peel that boot back and

look inside I will bet there are broken wires. Since all

the locks are run from the drivers door all the wires run to it.

This is a classic Jeep problem. You may be able to by

the part from the dealer it is called a Door Jumper Harness.

They will need the VIN# to get you the right part so be sure

to write it down before you give them a call. Also don't even

bother with the internet trying to find this part...and used parts

are likely to fail very soon anyway. If you are really cheep like me you will take the door jumper off (torx socket head) holds it on the door. Just by the 18-22 wire splices at the hardware store

and strip and crimp the broken wires.

Can anyone tell me how to eliminate the automatic door locks that lock when the speed reaches 15 mph. This is not only inconvient but it is very dangerous as one cannot get into the vehicle if the passangers are not able to unlock the doors. 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
