I have been having problems with starting my jeep, its a 97 grand cherokee 4 wheel 6 cylinder, it would crank over and over but no ignition...when I stoppped turning and shut it off then restart right away it would start no prob. Now it will start but not idle until my temp guage is at operating temperature(about 210), any suggestions? My thought was O2 sensor. Could use help, thanks.

I would say put in a 165 degree thermostat.cd

Ok, I could really use someones help here. I have had my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado to the shop twice now. The first time it went in was because it wasn't shifting into overdrive (yes I understand that this is a common problems with Jeeps in cold temps because the transmission fluid needs to heat but that was not my problem because even after it should have been warm enough it didn't shift into OD). The mechanic did a transmission service and changed my TPS. It now shifts into OD but idles high when warming up in the morning and when I put it into park and let it run. It is also sluggish (no gitty up and go) and it is going through a lot of gas. Can someone please help me because my mechanic is unable to. :)

I'm having the same problem with my 1998 Gran Cherokee Lorado. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hell guys just wondering if someone can help me out there my Jeep Cherokee 1997 4.0 6clyd has a problem, the mechanics have given up .....When its on park it idles ok when you put it on D or Reverse it gets the shakes not sure what to do now they have done checks and more checks nothing has come of them. Drives very well just when i stop with it on D ....the shakes come on.

HELP!!

hey i have a 98 grand cherokee i just put in a new 02 hi output wrangler motor in my 98 cherokee and now when i start it up the cars idle goes up to redline so if someone can help me out let me knoe what it is ok thanks bye

I have a 90 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 The neck on the radiator broke and we replaced the radiator. Then when we started it it would run until you touch the gas and it would die. then we replaced the throttle body, it didn't help, so we replaced the fuel pump. Now it starts and sounds great then it starts to rev up and when it reaches 2100 RPM's it cuts off.
