I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee it is shutting down some times it back fires but not always it wil usely start right back somtimes it has to sit a minute i have changed coil, pickup, moduel and crank sensor nothing has helped.

Jeff, I am having the same problem, when I move the connectors going into the ecm it will shut off, I think my ecm is bad, someone changed one of the 3 connectors on mine probably thinking they found the problem, but it will shut off and sometimes refire and then backfire because it is loaded up with fuel, if you get any answers I would like to here them thanks mike also advance auto sells the federal emissions ecm but I have a california emissions vehicle and I was also wondering if I could use the ecm for a federal emissions vehicle thanks mike
