I have a 1998 Cherokee 4.0 The other day it ran fine, today I could not get it to start.Sometimes I got a click when I turned the key, other times the motor would turn over but would not start. I found if I press on the gas slightly wile turning it over it will start, but soon as I let off the gas it stops. I replaced the Alternator about a month ago. My fuel gauge misreads at times and my interior lights dim when I turn on the headlights. Is there an idle adjustment or a sensor that controls fuel flow?. I am confused.

probably a bad alternator or u didnt wire it right try replacing your battery with a fresher one and see if it'll start.
