I kind of have the same problem the 87 does. I have a 92 xj-6. starts fine, but will only run for 10-15 seconds. any ideas? thanks

check one of the fuses, make sure that none of them are cracked or loose fitting.

Thanks for the info. Turned out to be the fuel pump module. Was not letting enough fuel get to the pump. Now it runs fine, but when driving after a few minutes car starts to get sluggish. Pull off and restart the car runs fine. It is giving of code for o2 sensor. Will see.

I have a 1990 Jaguar, Model XJS Convertible with only 12, 000 miles (hard to believe, but true). The vehicle starts fine, but when driven for short periods, the tachometer goes to zero and when this happens, the engine loses power equivalent to the limp mode. After turning the engine off and restarting, it may divert back to the limp mode condition or it may run fine. If it runs fine, the tachometer reinstates itself. The one clue is when tachometer function is lost (to zero), the engine loses power and remains that way until the tachometer returns to an accurate reading. Perhaps you might have run into this situation before. Would appreciate any help that you can provide.

I also have a 1995 XJR with approximately 107, 000 miles. When running, the vehicle runs great, inclusive of excellent transmission shifting. The problem at hand is hard starting (cold or hot). I broke into the fuel rail and installed a fuel gauge and read absolutely nothing. I checked the 30 amp fuse to the fuel pump and it reads fine. I have not checked the voltage at the fuel tank pump feed, but intend to do so. I have not changed either of the fuel pump relays. Before going any further, do yoou have any suggestions that might prove beneficial before dropping the tank and investing in the high cost of the fuel pumps? Would appreciate any help that you can provide. I would like to keep these two vehicles completely stock. I have four XJS coupes and one Cabriolet, all converted to Chevrolet drive trains and have never had any problems with them. They are daily drivers. My partner and I have converted 107 Jaguars and have never had any come backs.

i have a 1995 xjr i put cheap gas and it started to heat up is this normal can even run 2 miles & it heats up again
