Jaguar-XJ6 - Head gasket XJ6 1994

Antifreeze goes directly to engine oil. My Jag is a '94 with a proported 102, 500 miles on it. Would it be better and cheaper to install a newer engine, or to fix the head gasket? I've noticed '95 through '97 engines with lower miles on EBay for around 500.00, and shipping at 175.00. My mechanic is reluctant to work on aluminum heads without machining them, so the price for the attending gasket work could be high. You're thoughts would be appreciated.

sounds really expensive..if installing newer engine would be as cost as the fixing of the gasket, then probably just get a newer engine.
