my 1994 xj6-i put it in the shop a foreign car repair shop- 1st time for oil leak that was repaired said the power stearingneeded to be replaced-2nd the flap for the defrost would not heat only a/c from defrost or a mixure the help to the mechanic broke out the flap(cracked it out) never fixing it-3rd time hours later the abs went up and no breaks didn't even have it home for 3 hours. well they replaced the $350.00 accumulator and drove it home and no breaks again, the mechanic came to my house and took it back. now they say its the switch $650.00 switch to the abs and electrical. could the flap to the defrost have something to do with the breaks electrical system. help i am out of money (the breaks worked fine when i bought the car in august and the mechanic had no idea about the electrical in my car. i had no problems until the flap was broken out of the car. the car ran great exept for the leak.

Here i go again just replaced power stering and now it does not work hearing a sound squeeling may be a belt or a minor problem or it will just start the ball rolling again. Thing is i think its just that new parts are to much for this car. Everythig worked great untill the 1st problem, i asked them to fix the defrost and after that everything is breaking. bought it in September of 2008 and replaced the power stering (whole thing)under carrage, abs system (whole thing), fixed an oil leak and the bolt to the motor mount broke and they had to make a new bolt (custom) these are a major expense. When i tried to fix the defrost the mechanic spent 20 hours on that, I said stop now but the reply was he's into it and needs to know whats wrong in the end his helper ripped the flap out and broke it up! he bought new tools so he could see inside (a scope) So, at $30.00 an hour i still owe for that work. I hope the trans is okay.

my car doesn't start and a jump doesn't help. Do you guys think it's the starter? Do you think it's easy to replace it?

1994 jaguar XJ6 car won't start first thing in the morning and after sitting for a few hours. I have to keep tiring and tiring then it starts. They replaced the electric fuel pump and fuel regulator and still nothing. Any suggestions what to do next except junk it?

Engine Mechanical problem1994 Jaguar XJ6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 109 miles Hi, I have a 1994 XJ6 that smokes a lot on start-up but then there is no visible sign of it burning oil. The guy I bought it from said that it had set for a long time and that the fiber piston seals had flat spots on them and some oil was leaking into the cylinder. Does this sound right and is there anything like an oil additive that would help this problem. Thanks

For those of us who have a XJ6, and a tailpipe white smoke problem, the answer could be a slight leak in the head gasket (usually front), or one or more burned exhaust valves. If you look at a schematic of the cooling system, the rear exhaust valves are treated badly. I had the head resurfaced, the valves shimmed, and the rear exhaust valves replaced. No more smoke. Finding a good mechanic (especially in small towns) may be a problem, but I lucked out.
