immediately after starting a cold engine, 3.3 liter '06 sonata, vibrating/rotational noise comes from area near large cylinder below front exhaust manifold lasting 0.5-1.0 secs. re-starting immediately will not produce this noise.

what is it? how serious could it be? what is necessary to resolve this and does it need to be resolved for proper engine operation?

I have the same issue with mine. I took it to the dealer and they agree about the noise and at first said they needed to replace the transmission. However, after a week they called and said that the Korean engineers told them to add a spacer clip between the transmission line and the block. They said the line was vibrating against the block. It went away for a while but has recent returned. I am not sure if the clip fell out or it is something else they are hiding. I am going to another HY dealer next week.

I bought 06 Hyundai from a Honda dealer and used there free oil change service. It turns out they put the oil filter cap wrong and the oil seemed to leak into the engine. The engine seemed to make noise at the start up, so I took it to Hyundai Dealer to get it checked. The Hyundai dealer suggested that there might be some engine damage.He showed me the picture of the oil leak around the filter and also informed me that there were metal parts floating in the oil pan.

However when I took the vehicle back to original Honda Dealer, he mentioned that it was Timing Tensioner problem which is a known issue with Hyundai. He got it replaced for me from another Hyundai Dealer.

However the engine still makes noise when started from cold condition. What are my options? Do I take it back to Honda dealer and get the engine inspected? I am thinking of taking the legal course? Kindly inform

i have sonata 2000 make ..my problem is it is showing check engine light with code 171 ...what does it meam??????? where the problem is..
