I know many owners of the 08 elantra have had a recall to replace the fuel pump. I had mine replaced 3 weeks ago. Then I discovered a metal click soung when in reverse or drive and initially accelerating immediately after swith in gear. I took the car in to dealer today and was told this was a driver's side axle that had too much "play" in it. One would have to be ordered from Hyundai and repace the original one. Has any other owners had this problem and if so how long did it take to fix. I was told it was perfectly OK to dive the car until replacement was completed. Any thoughts on this? THANKS

Bought my 08 elantra in may of 2008. After a month or so while driving my seatbelt light started to flash on and off...I had my seatbelt on. While this was happening I lost all dash board lightsfor a second and then again. This happened a few times over the next couple months one time @ night driving down the highway. Brought it in twice before they found the problem some timing relay and it was replaced. It has not happened again to date. The other problem I have had was a major one. After putting the car in park the car would sometimes jump forward. I would have to jump on the brake to stop the car from continuing forward. Brought it in three times before dealership found the supposed problem. They ended up giving me a new transmission. Only problem now is it did it again after a month. The dealership has had my car for a week now and can't get the car to duplicate problem. I do not know what to do.

Scott - Same problem has just started occuring with my Elantra - transmission was replaced last month and I have taken it in for the same problem again. Hyundai Canada is apparently classifying this problem as "normal" if you do not have the e-brake engaged.
