Does anyone had experience like this on a BRAND NEW HONDA CIVIC DX-G, my honda is a fresh 2 weeks old came from the dealaership last April, First i noticed it once i make a full stop, When i released the brake pedal i heard a grinding noise just getting off in spring bed mattress coming from the brake system, when i brought the car to the dealer it says it is a normal reaction of the caliper once it release on the rotor?but for me this is not normal it scares me?can anyone give me an advice about this, and i really appreciate your advice. thanks a lot

I have the same problem with my Brand New 2009 Accord, when I was driving all of the sudden I heard grinding noise came from the front and rear wheels, and when I opened the window the grinding noise even louder; I went to Diamond Honda, City of Industry and the lady in service centre told me 'It was time to change your Brake Pad!' and I was very surprised, howcome the brand new 2009 Accord, just purchased couple months ago, mileage less than 14, 000 miles with most freeway mileage need to change the Brake Pad...!

Same thing here. I have a 2009 Civic LX, has 9, 500 miles on it and it is making sounds, like a caliper is sticking or something. When I drive with the window down, it is evident. I am going to have to take it in. I live at the top of a long hill which has a couple of four-way stops on it and when I am going down the hill and apply the brakes, I hear a good amount of grinding. Seems like the pads need replacing but wow, to be replacing pads at less then 10K?

I have an 09 honda accord (V6) that has been in the shop for service on the brakes 8 times. The first visit was 2 days after the purchase. They have replaced the pads, machined the rotors multiply times, and just last week they replace the calipers. Obviously if the pads and rotors needs to be replaced like they have been, there is a problem. It still has not resolved the problem. The brakes squeal, they grind, they smell like their burning. They are so bad now, that everyone riding in the car can feel the grinding. Honestly, I do not feel safe driving the car. This was my first Honda purchase and last! I have filed for the lemon law. I hope they just take the car back, it's unsafe!

i have a 2009 honda civic (dx-g) which i just bought 2 months ago. i am also hearing a grinding noise every time i release my foot on the brake pedal. i brought it to the dealership to have it checked and the technician told me they did not find anything wrong with my brakes. the noise is scarring me to death every time i step on the brakes. i thought at first that i was just imagining the noise. it is so frustrating because the dealership won't admit that it is happening. i feel so unsafe whenever i drive...

I have the same problem so i was just googling to see if there is some else in this problems list, but i thought i was more lucky that my front brake pad of honda lxi 08 model has gone after 20k and needs replacement. Whereas here there are people who lost it in just 8k. Also i get the same grinding noise.

we were also told that it's normal from Honda, however - any auto mechanic will tell you different. we didn't spend 38, 000 on a new car to deal with all these headaches. it seems that everytime we take the car in (it's going back this week - 9th time), it seems to get worse. buying this car has been one of the worst purchases ever! we traded in an 02 toyota that during our 6 years of owning it, was never in the 6 years in the shop this many times. Never had a problem with it. We will never ever buy another Honda! Not only do we have major brake issues, but we also have dash lights on for abs and tire pressures on - and they still tell us that nothing is wrong with the car. I only hope and pray that someone doesn't get injured.

I, too have a Honda Accord 2009 with less then 15, 000 miles - Over the past several weeks I have been hearing a rubbing or grinding noise on the right side of the car - it kept coming and going. So, I started observing it more - it is worst when I put my foot on the brake. I called the dealership and they advised me that they have had many problems with the brakes and it is a covered warranty item. So, I willcheck it out tomorrow I hope they fix it and I dont have to return more then once to the service department.

I have a 2002 civic, right front squeals like a pig and sometimes get a grinding noise until I apply more pressure. New pads same problem. Embarrassing to have passengers ride along. First, maybe my last Honda since it seems even the '09's are even having trouble.

I own a 2008 honda accord took it in to get a 15000 mile service around 16000 miles. I never had a problem, now all of a sudden the same day i get the service done my breaks squeel while driving. The noise stops when you apply the brake. I havent gone back to the dealer yet but these replies have now made me nervous. These are new cars and having so many issues. I bought honda because I was told they make good quality, I hope this experience does not change that opinion. I hope it is something minor.

this is such bull. i've been hearing the same grinding noise and i figured it was time to change my brakes. i checked that out today and my pads aren't even that worn yet, though the rear pads are in rougher shape than the front, which goes against convention since the front are typically faster to wear. if the noise is in fact coming from the brakes, i suspect it's the composition of the rotors or pads themselves causing a conflict. i'm gonna try using ceramic brake pads and maybe a different set of rotors, if that doesn't solve the problem, honda might be using ty bearings....which should be very concerning.

I have an 08 Accord with 19, 000 miles that just started to make noise . It sounds to me like the squealer on the back drive side of the car. I took a look at the pads and they don't look worn too bad . I guess I should bring it to the dealer soon. The noise it only when I'm driving and goes away when I hit the brakes. .

I've had the brake thing going on since I bought my 2008 CRV last Oct. A Colonel at my work has the same problem - we've both been more or less told that's just the way it is because of the type of brakes and being 4WD. Mine has also at time pulled to the right when I stopped hard - per the service dept the brakes must have gotten on a little dirt or something on them?!?! They wanted to know how many times it's happened - like what difference does that make ... it shouldn't happen at all! I should have just taken my down payment money and fixed up my 97 CRV ... never had problem one with it!

I own a 2009 Honda Accord LX-p. At around 500 miles the brakes on the front passenger side began to chatter or squel when applying the brakes and turning at the same time. Car has 1200 miles and still the same noise. I will be bringing it back to the dealer. They gave me a lame excuse the first time I brought it in. I didnt expect this quality issue from a Honda. The noise is irratating and should not be on a new vehicle. Car review.

Man! This is depressing. I have the same brake noise issue with my 2008 Accord LX-P (less than 19K miles). Took it in to the dealer and was told I need to change my rear brake pads. I took it to my mechanic friend and he told me I still have 1/3 left. This is my first Honda and possibly my last. I'm very disappointed in Honda.

I have a 2009 honda acc, that I purchased In March 2009, shortly after that I have been to the dealers about 5 times with the same as you may call it "pigs noise, grinding, squeeking brakes..) It is really agrevating and embarrasing to have a brand new car and no one knows what its is.... This is what I have done so far... Went to the dealer again 08/25/09... asked for all my complains tickets since April- August 2009, ..went to the state web site "Lemon Law" there is a letter that you can use as a template and complete your complaint, letter needs to go to the manufacture, list is also online. I just mailed the letter to American Honda Motor today they have 7 days to correct the problem and then I submit to the AG in Mass. I hope that this will help you guys on your journey.

I have the same issue on my new 2009 Honda Accord. Thebrakes stated squeeking after 3 days out of the lot. I took it to the service advisor and they replaced the pads but after a week it started squeeking again. I took it back and this time I was told there is a design flaw and Honda Corporate knows about it and R&D is designing a new brake and will take 30 days. Fast forward 8 months and still designing new brake. My car still squeeks. I read about similar complaint on forums and how everyone is being told Honda Corporate knows about it. I then decided to write CEO Mr Takanobo Ito and sent my letter to Honda Motor Co in Japan (98 cents postage). I got a reply back from Mr Chieko Sakamoto (PartSales & Service Div) stating they apologize for any inconvenience and that Honda USA will be handling the issue. I got a call from a Ms Laura from Honda USA in California (I think she was a receptionist) and she apologized for the issue and that corporate knows about the issue. I asked her for the fix due date and she told me it's proprietary but all dealers will be told when they have one. I asked why Honda has not issued any bulletins (at least) to customers and she said she will take that suggestions to her superiors. I asked her what am I supposed to do now and she said just to keep checking with my dealer but fix timeframe is proprietary. I told her it's been over 8months and she said she was sorry. Anyway, here is the address I sent my letter to in case any of you want to send letters yourself. Maybe if Mr Ito gets enough letters from angry customers they will do something faster. Mr Takanobo Ito President & CEO Honda Motor Co. Ltd. 1-1 Minami-Aoyama 2-Chome Minato-ku Tokyo, Japan 107-8556 I would like to attach the letter I received from Mr Sakamoto but I dont know how on this board. -EDP

hello to you all. i am a owner of a 2000 civic LX and my cousin just got her 2009 civic LX, just a great car overall, at 20000miles the brakes started to make the tipical noise, so i took off the tire and give it a look and seems that the brake problem is caused by the piston. happens because at the momment you apply the brakes and release them, the piston does not recovers, means that stays that way; always applying the force to the inner brake pad that is the one with the little metal piece at the bottom(the sensor commonly named) we called honda and they said that is a problem that not all cars have and it was our luck to get that... a real bad answer for me.... i hope that it helps

wow. afer reading this, honda's just seem like a bad choice. my father recently purchased a used 2007 honda odyssey ex-l at 60, 000 miles. when we got the car, before we even drove it off the lot, there was a tpms light showing in the dashbord. the dealer tells us that the rear tire was loosing pressure but after getting the problem fixed, the light was still there. At 62, 000 miles or roughly 2 months after we purchased the odyssey, we started to hear grinding noises comming from the the rear tire. The noise is truley horrific. It sounds like a boeing 747 taking off. I never wanna drive a honda again it was a truly horrific experince to hear that noise. i thought the tire was gonna fall off or something.why does this happen?

I was looking online to see if anyone was having the same probelms with their Hondas...I have a 2008 Honda Civic I bought brand new. It started squeeling only 1-2 months after purchasing it. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced them free of charge, but said it was caused by someone resting their foot on the break while driving. I never do this and never had any problems with breaks on my Nissan Pathfinder. I don't put that many miles on my car nor ride the breaks, but it is only a year since I had the breaks replaced, and it just stated doing the same high pitched squeeling noise again when I'm not breaking and grinding brake sounds when I do appky the break. Everyone I know says that it's crazy to be replacing my breaks this soon. My friend has a brand new truck and he hasn't had to replace them for 3 years since buying it! Ugh! I don't know what else to do, but take it in and explain what's happening. They always make it seem like your doing something wrong, like it's driver error rather than a possible defect in the manufactoring of the vehicle. I would have been better off keeping my expensive SUV, this car is SUPPOSED to be saving me $$$!!!!!!!
