Squeaky noise after stepping off brake pedal?

Julia (76.169.195.149) - Sat Sep 20 16:03:21 2008

Anyone else out there experience this issue? I notice it mostly if I'm parking on an incline like my driveway. It happens after I move my foot off the brake pedal and the car kind of moves like rolls back a tiny bit then, it squeaks like a mattress w/ noisy box springs! It doesn't happen all the time - but now I'm noticing it more often. I do recall, it occurred first when I had my car early on - I bought it new 2008.

Thanks in advance.

I also have a new honda. It is a 2008 accord I think I was one of the first to purchase one . Like you, soon after getting it I noticed the brakes squeaked from time to time . At first I thought it was due to the newness of the car and that it would go away with time . The squeaky problem got worse as the months went bye . I took it to pasadena ca. honda dealer . The dealer kept my car for a week and said that the front brakes are faulty so they replaced them free of charge . I was very concerned, no one wants to be driving with faulty brakes. I wondered if maybe there could be a problem with the construction since 2008 is a new design . Well, about a month ago, I took my car to the same dealer for its routine check up . They told me that my rear brakes now need to be changed . At first I was concerned that it could have the same problem as the front brakes but since the brakes were not squeaking at the time I tried to think positive . So instead I thought that it couldn't need brakes since the car is still brand new and has under 1, 500 miles, one year old . Well, sure enough, about a week ago my car started squeaking really really bad!. I thought oh my god what is going on with this car ? ? ? . I took it back to Pasadena Honda and they checked it out and told me that it was normal wear and tear and that I must pay them to have it fixed. Normal wear and tear ? ( WHAT ! )

I have never owned a car that needed brakes under 1, 500 mile . My 15 year old nissan s.u.v. needs brakes every 3-4 years . I am thinking as I originally was concerned that some of hondas cars have a serious brake problem . BE CAREFUL!!. I brought my car home and am going to have it inspected by an outside professional first before I accept what Honda is trying to feed me.

I have encountered the same trumpet style squeak occasionally on my 1 year honda (accord)

The car demonstrates the squeaks in the same manner (unless I take it to the garage for inspection - then its perfect...).

Changing brakes didn't help at all.

I would really appreciate any help here.

Just wanted you to know that I brought my car into Honda and they said for this model - CRV - this noise is a common thing. They do not consider it a defect or issue - its due to the chaisee (spelling?) being more like a truck rather than a sedan.

Hope this helps you guys out.

My Honda CRV is now 14 months old it has been back to the

dealer four times, the last time they replaced the pads but

this has not solved the problem every time I brake they clank

likethey are hitting some thing. Honda might be able to make

robots but they cant make cars with normall brakes it gets on

my nerves

I just bought a new Honda CRV last month (Jan 2009) here in Geneva, Switzerland and I'm having the same problem with the squeeky brakes plus a low scraping/grinding sound when moving slow and braking. The dealer was saying something about a cancerous material that has been banned. Anyways I have a question about the color of the edges of the disk breaks, does anyone know if its normal for them to be rust in color? I'm bringing the CRV to the garage tomrow i sure hope it works out with my limited french.

I bought a new CRV ex. It has less than 300 miles. I was almost in accident because the brake is not working. When I am pressing the brake the car is still moving and I have to press hard to stop the car. The car is less than on month old and less than 300 miles. I am so sad. I have an altime 11 years old and the old altima's break system is better than my new less than one month CRV. so sad. I called honda North America and files a complain and I will go to deal over the weekend. But I afraid of driving the car.

Obviously none of these problems SHOULD be occurring but they are and it is most likely Honda's fault and the dealers should make good on it. It could be that the CRV had underdesigned brakes or more likely that your particular years or production runs experienced some quality issues or perhaps Honda's suppliers were lacking. This type of thing happens to most automakers from time to time. This is all conjecture of course, but to answer some of your questions, the cancerous material that was banned is asbestos, which they used to use in brake linings over 40 years ago. Since then perfectly fine (and in fact better) brakes have been made on all cars of all makes, and so you can deduce that this reasoning is faulty and that line they fed you is total B.S. Next, it is perfectly normal for the outermost edges of your brake rotors to be rusty, the pads will scrape away rust which naturally occurs on all brake rotors that haven't been driven in a few days or more, however the outer edges will always be rusty. It's just how they are. You shouldn't drive a car with bad brakes EVER, have it towed. Your brakes shouldn't be squeaky on a brand new car, and it shouldn't take more than 3 trips to the dealer to remedy. Sometimes your brakes will scrape once or twice after you haven't driven the car in a week or so (scraping off that light rust which accumulates), but it should go away after that. Good luck folks.

I have a 2009 Accord and have only 3, 000 miles on it. I have taken 5 trips to the dealer's for squeaky breaks. 1st time they relubed the breaks, 2nd time they changed my break pads, 3rd time they said it was just dust, the 4th time they changed my rear roders and resurfaced my front ones. Now it's back at the shop for the same reason. SQUEAKY BREAKS ! I bet my mechanic would be able to fix this problem, but why spend the money when it's still under warranty.
