i put a new head on 92' tracker need to know how to know if valves are top dead center when there is no mark on camshaft cover

There should be a mark on the camshaft sprocket, not on the cover. Both the crankshaft sprocket and the camshaft sprocket should have the marks pointing up. This puts the crank and the cam at the correct timing marks. Install the timing belt. Minor adjustments may have to be made by turning the distributor to perfect the timing.

A few month ago, I've been in the same situation with Troy. What I did was consult another shop and luckily they have this nice apparatus that was made just for that job.

i put new head on 16v 1.6 but the stupid thing wont fire comp is 150 psi 1997 geo tracker any thoughts
