Engine occasionally will not turn over

I have a 93 Tracker w/automatic transmission. Occasionally it will not turn over. The lights come on the dash and I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. I can hear the click and it will not turn over. I have moved the shifter back and forth in case it was the starter safety switch. Most of the time it starts normal. Occasionally when I turn the key to the start position, there is a pause of 1-5 seconds and suddenly the engine turns over and starts immediately. Yesterday I was in a store parking lot and it would not turn over. I tried numerous times and finally called AAA. Before AAA arrived, I decided to try it once more and it started immediately. I have replaced the starter, (including the starter solenoid), and installed a new battery. Any help would be appreciated.
