My daughters 92 GEO Storm has died suddenly without any real reason. The first time was right after we bought it. It had sat for a while I thought maybe moisture in the fuel tank, Vapor lock? It started up and ran a little rough for weeks. Than it did it again. It started up but shortly died. The gas gauge looked off so I out gas in it and it was fine again... This weekend I did Plugs and Plug wires, High octane gas and found one of the plugs was actually broken. Now it runs Beautiful, but died again yesterday. Now it wont start at all. Its getting gas and turning over but no turnover???I'm thinking Coil?? or ???? Any other ideas?

im having similiar problems with my 1.6l 92 stormWe have replaced the coil and ignition module uder the distrib cap and still nothing... but If you are not getting spark at the plugs next check to see if the coil is giving a spark to the distibuter... if it is then check the contacts on the roter in the distibuter.. if it is not then .. you have to chck to see if the ignition module is getting input from the computer... and if not.. try to get new ignit module in my car we did that and still no input so we checked the fuel injectors to see if they are getting a pulse... and i am not... so now iam thinking of replacing the ECM Computer.. MAN WHAT A Pain.. If you want email me and tell me exactly what your doing and i will step you through your work on her car. Sincerely EVAN

Try checking the coil around the cam shaft - it's a magnetic coil that senses that the cam is actually turning. If it doesn't think the cam is turning, it'll tell the computer to shut off fuel and/or spark (in the event of an accident, it'll shut off the fuel and/or spark to prevent an explosion). Another one of those wonderful U.S. Government mandated gizmos to cause headaches and empty wallets for the home mechanic. Had same problem (intermittently dying then died completely) and it was this coil.

The car has always been garage kept and only taken out on periodic runs since '99. It would be a fine car for someone who wants an engine that has been modified and a car that handles well. All of the receipts and notes of the work that has been done on the car. The block has been bored .020" over stock and crower rods and JE pistons w/total seal rings were added to achieve a 9:1 compression ratio. The head studs were enlarged and strengthened and the head was done with a 3-5-angle valve job and a custom cam from Guide performance. The cam products max power at about 7800 rpm. The stock computer was changed to an Accell DFI system with a 300+ ignition. A Hotshot intake with K & N filter was added for breathing as well as a custom 2.25" exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler. I have a 1992 geo storm. We just replaced the head gasket, and it will start and idle just fine, but when i put it in gear it automatically dies, unless ur giving it gas when u put it in gear. It will move around the yard but when u let off the gas it dies. any ideas on what might be causing the problem?
