1992 Geo Metro headlights will not come on when switch on lever is rotated. Passing lights (high beams) turn on when lever is pulled back and held. Headlights ohmed out good between all contacts on both lights. Electrical connector on headlight has 12 volts present on all three contacts with reference to battery regardless of switch position. When passing light is engaged, 2 electrical contacts go dead and the remaining contact measures 11.5 volts. Help!

96 geo metro lsi -Daytime headlights & runnings lights works when switch lever is off (as normal for 96's). Instrument panel lights & running lights work "ocassionally" when lever is rotated to first position (runners), but not the daytime headlights? When switch lever is rotated to "headlamps on" the intrument panel, daytime headlights and night headlights go out? When lever is pulled back for passing the high & low beams work in any rotated position, but not the panels? Please help!!!! Tony 3/26/05

I need to replace the turn signal flasher in my 1996 Geo Metro, I think. The left blinker flashes fast, the left front turn signal flashes normally with the blinking sound. I have replaced the flasher bulb, but still no light. I have looked up under the dash and located the fuse panel but I can't identify the flasher. What does it look like? Terry

I just bought a used 95 geo metro 5speed 1.0. THe heat guage and "heat" come and go but usually go. Suspect the thermostat but the radiator cap is hot but not too hot. 2nd problem is lights. With switch off the lights are on but not the dash lights. With switch in parking light position all lights work normal but cannot get brights on unless I pull and hold. When switch is on all lights are off. There is a wire across the front from the white lead of one headlight to the white of the other. If I disconnect the right headlight does not work. Thanks for any help you can give. John

To all of you that have experienced head light (night time light) problems with a Geo Metro 95, here's my finding: The number one known problem with that car is that the light switch arm has a week component. It have a tendency to blow out easily and independently if the fuse is good or not. Don't need to replace light bulbs unless they are burned out of course. All you have to do is to go to your local Junk Yard, find another car of the same year likewise to be geo metro or I believe firefly are of the same design and remove only the control harm. They will tell you that you need the whole steering module but it is not necessary, plus in a lot of cases the connectors might not be the same...that's why I say get only the Harm. Replace your old Harm with the new one and test it out...it should work...well It did for me anyway... But if it blow after a few months again...it could be asymptomatic of another problem (either the same control harm blown up again) or a bad connector in the fuse box or a bad wiring elsewhere. Which mean more investigation. Refer to your owner's manual to see what should be the best wiring for your car. Some people add up remote starter and anti-theft devices (rather useless) and when they do their wiring they don't buy those snap on connectors and start splicing the cables and using electrical tape, start creating all kind of potential short circuit causing future damage to the electrical system. If it's the case, get it install or check by a professional (unless you can easily do it yourself) and bring the car back to it's original state. Then check every connectors for signs of burning and you'll know which circuit is drawing too much "juice". Sometime it's also caused by corrosion so all you have to do is to cut the corrosion on the cable and using a the clean part of the cable, remake that connection (suggest welding ...but remember to isolate that circuit from the battery before you do so or else "OUCH") Hope that will help you all!!!

Correction to my last message... compatible car parts for Geo metro should be the same in the Sprint or Suzuki swift but the car should be of the same year range and have the same number of doors...but if you don't know for sure, ask the guys at the junk yard, they know which car is compatible to the Geo Metro and they will gladly help you out in your search.Remember that a new part may cost a lot of money and wont necessarily give you a better result...the same part at a junk yard will only cost you a few box and will do the same job...but you got to do it yourself...

The 1996 geo Metro has a problem with the fuse box inside burning the wires to the headlights.

I have a 99 geo 4 cylinder and had a simular headlight problem. In my case it was a diode that was giving me problems that is located with the fuses under the hood.

I have a 94 geo metro. all lights work properly exept head lights. they do not work at all with the switch in any position. However the high beams will come on if you pull back and hold the lever. have been trying to fix this problem for some time and have replaced the light switch arm.

my headlight problems were being caused by corrosion in the fusebox itself, , the one under the dash not the hood, , , got one from the junkyard and everything is well now

The headlight problem in the 94-96 or so Metros is in the fuse block. As you look at it, it is the 6 wire connector in the lower right corner usually burns the lower right wire. Unplug it and you can see it burnt. Sometimes you can wiggle the connector and it will work again, but cleaning the contacts and then reconnecting works. If it burns real badly, you have to buy a fuse panel and put a new end on the offending wire. The component locator says the Daytime Running Light (DRL) module is above the fuse panel but I have never found it. If you want to disable the DRL just ground the E-brake wire. The DRL are not on while the E-brake is on. You could just make the E-brake switch out of adjustment enough to disable the DRL. Happy Motoring.
