Arkasasman; Your throttle position sensor in not adjusted correctly. Having it wound too tight causes the surging at idle and causes a high idle RPM when cold. . Back it off a little at a time until the surging quits, and you will have it set right.
Geonut Thanks for the reply, since i put this in I have tried what you said and scribed a line before I stared to adjust the throttle postion sensor(tps) but had no luck and set the tps back to the setting. I have checked for vacume leaks, have none.I rebuilt the engine about 12000 mls ago and has run great untill we had a cold snap a few weeks back.My fuel millage has gone down a bit couple mpgs, other than high idle at cold temps or at operating temps and the engine hunting for idle 5 or 6 times at each time I cluth it or stop it runs great. It does not throw a code(check engine lite). This is a 93 1.0 5 speed with a/c . the a/c does not have a belt on it. What happens when the tps goes out? Thank again Geonut
Geonut thanks for the input. I repaired my problem, cleaned the EGR valve port thru the intake and fixed the problem and also replaced the pcv valve run like a new car.
