I'm stuck, and am hoping somebody can help. How do I get the clutch bearing out of my 92 metro so that I can replace it? All of the bearing pulling tools that are for sale or rent are so large that they don't even come close to fitting inside the hole.

The clutch has two bearings that I know about. There is a pilot bearing in the center of the flywheel that can be driven out by removing the flywheel from the crankcase. Just put a socket that is just smaller than the OD of the bearing and tap it with a hammer. The other clutch bearing is the throw-out bearing. I believe that it is removed by moving the clutch release lever that is on the outside of the case to it's most released position, then pull the right side of the bearing toward you, which will allow the other side to come off the pin holding it in place. Reverse the procedure to put it together.

I wouldn't take a transmission off this far without putting a Clutch Kit in it. Check around. There is a large difference in price for this kit with different suppliers. Usually, the flywheel has to be surfaced locally, about $30. They come with an alignment tool.
