head gasket is out may be expensive to fix so try stop leak first if you stop at a napa or any quality parts store they should be able to recomend a suitable product

Im betting on a leaking rad cap sending it all into the over flow or leaking head gasket try a different cap if u havent fixed it yet

did you figure out what was wrong? i have the same problem with my 1996. i have changed the radiator, radiator cap, thermostat. i did a cylinder leak down test and compression check. both showed no problems. anybody got any other sugestions? i hate to pull the engine apart because it runs great pyherwise.

I have the same problem with my 1996 Geo metro. I guy I bought it from said that it was losing water, fast. The oil is clean, no water in the oil. No oil in the water. The car does not overheat, it just heats up to 50% of the temp gauge range. When I stop the car after a long drive, I can hear the water in the overflow resevoir bubbling (I don't think its boiling, but rather steam from the radiator being forced into the resevoir and bubbling up). I see steam escaping the resevoir cap where it is supposed to. is this normal for a metro?

I had this problem on my 94 metro. Came to find out it was minor dips in the head's surface which was burning it off very quickly.. Took the head off and the gasket had 2 minor holes in it. Didn't leak into the oil or vice versa. Hope that helps.. Mine was doing the same. Leaking coolant very rapidly but no visable signs of leaking anywhere.. had bubbling in res. If you know how to turn a wrench it took me 1 hour to take the head off. Takes about 2 hours of cleaning and prepping.. then another hour or so to put it all back together. If you know what ur doing.. that was without a chiltons too.
