I've been having some issues with my Metro. One of them is the filler neck which has rusted. I live in northeast Ohio where salt is used on the roads in winter. I love this car and need it to last at least a few more years - preferably forever. I've looked for a replacement part for it with no luck. Since it's a 2 door the part that shows in the catalogs for the filler neck is $.62 and about an inch long. The part I need looks like the part that presumably only fits the 4 door model - the pipe that goes from the gas cap to the connection to the tank. Does anyone know where I can find one or have any suggestions on how to put a band-aid on this until I can? I really hate putting fuel in my car and watching it drip on the ground. If it was still $4 a gallon I would be much more upset, but this will do.

The other issue I have with the car is very new. I made a sharp left turn yesterday and I heard a horrific noise that sounded like a squeaky, grinding, creaky old desk chair. I couldn't quite tell where it was coming from, but it freaked me out so much that I tried not to make another left turn all the way home. Does anyone have any ideas on that one? And does anyone in the vicinity of Berea, Ohio know of a good, reasonable mechanic who knows something about Metros?

1) Parts are not that expensive for the Geo's...I would go to the dealer on the gasoline problem as it will save you the money in the long run.

2) As for the noise...do you have the right sized tires on there? It could have been a tire rubbing on the inner fender well. Did it sound like a metal to metal squeal (very high pitched) or a plastic to rubber squeal...? Much lower squeal. Could be wheel bearing but would probably squeak/squeal more then just a left turn.

If you are hearing a grinding noise, it is defiantly wheel bearings. I suggest purchasing new bearings from the link below, and have them installed
