GMC-Yukon XL - 1999 GMC Yukon AC problems

Hi. My 1999 GMC Yukon runs cold in the rear and hot in the front. When I recharged last Summer the front worked for awhile, then blew warm again. Back still cold. Mechanic wants to replace compressor. Compressor fully charged now. I don't get it and I don't want to throw out $900 for a compressor which appears to be working. Anyone know what I've got going on? Thanks.

Kim i have a 1999 yukon. the compressor goes for about $130. You said $900? bring it to another shop. you shouldnt pay more then $400.

kim also. turn the ac on let it run for a bit...there should be water dripping in the back and also under the engine area. see if its dripping in both places if it is then there is most likely a problem with youre venting in the front. meaning the air isnt being blown through the ac vent.

The front air conditioning on my 99 Yukon will work one day and not the next. Then it come on high no matter what the controls are on. While the rear has never had a problem. What could be the problem?
