|I have a 1995 Ford ranger XLT with 5 speed manual. The truck rides fine but after a while the clutch will get hard to depress and will not let the gears engage. If I rev the engine eventually sometimes it will jump into gear and I can pull it off the road and the clutch will become very hard to depress. It does not happen all of the time but after about 5 to 10 miles of driving. If I park it, and leave it sit for a while, usually a couple of hours, it will be fine again. any ideas or suggestions?|

|Hi, My name is Alisha and i have a 95 ford ranger with a standard transmission!! And a friend of mine just changed the pressure plate. It still would not go into gear, so i learned how to speed shift and made sure i parked on a hill. That worked fine for about a week, then it would not go into first. i started off in second after that, then second would not work! and i even had a friend push me down the road about 35 to 40 mph to see if it would go into third it wouldn't now it just wont go into any gear, and when i press the clutch in it just goes BAM all the way to the floor with nothing!!!!! HELP|
Hope you can help and advise. My 1193 ford ranger is picky at start-up. It seems as if a switch is not making when I depress the clutch pedal. I can retry 2 or 3 times and it will start. Can you tell me what and where to look for this problem?

|OK. HERE GOES. ALOT OF PROBLEMS SEEM TO BE CLUTCH RELATED. #ONE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SYSTEM HAS BEEN COMPLETED FLUSHED. DIRTY FLUID IS THE WORST ENEMY OF HYDRO SYSTEMS. #2 MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE FLUID IN THE SYSTEM, NO AIR. THEY ARE A REAL PAIN TO BLEED. THESE ARE THE BASICS. IF NONE SOLVES THE PROBLEM THEN CAN IT ONLY BE A BAD SLAVE CYLINDER, TO WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLACE. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENCE BUT, A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THAT YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CUP IN THE TOP OF THE MASTER CYLINDER BEFORE ADDING FLUID. GOOD LUCK, RANDY|
|I have a 2.3L, 5 speed, 4 cyl, 1992 ford ranger - I am starting to have trouble from dead stop, putting into 1rst gear and reverse. Can anyone advise me what possibly may casuse this and if it is something that I can do myself?|
I'm sure by now you've gotten a new clutch , but if not
have the whole clutch replaced , if your gears aren't messed up from
" i learned how to speed shift and made sure i parked on a hill."
you might find a replacement transmission at a salvage yard or get a rebuilt one, --either way always avoid speed shifting in a ford ranger.

i have a ford ranger 98 4x4 xlt 5 speed.
i dont know much about mechanic stuff but im having problems with the truck. here's the problem:
Ex; im driving forty mph and i come to a stop at a red light or whatever, so i immediately step on the clutch and the brake at the same time putting my stick in neutral. once im stopped and my foot is still on the clutch with the shift back in 1st ready to take off again, my truck stays on 2 rpm's and its just sitting there roaring like if i was doing 30 in 1st gear! it takes at least 20-30 seconds for the rpm's along with the roaring to go down. the main problem is that everytime is step on the clutch pedal just to shift up or down it sends my rpm's straight up like if i was pressing on the gas(but im not). that and the check engine light was on before all this started happening and today while this problem is at its worst i noticed the light was no longer on. PLEASE HELP!
|I have a 2002 ford ranger, it started getting hard to shift, I checked the slave cyclender and it was real low .I added fluid and it shifted just fine for a couple weeks, now it's back to hard to shift with motor running , shifts easy without motor running. I checked slave cyclinder fluid level and it was okay. I bleed it twice , get nothing but fluid coming out. yet It still is hard to shift. and it seems that if you shift the gears before starting the motor , then start it . it shifts a little better. Any ideas what may be wrong, i'm not very mechanical . and this is about all i know to try.|
|I replaced the clutch and pressure plate on my 94 ford ranger 4.0 v-6... Here is the problem. Bled system. New slave and res put in a year ago. Clutch pedal operates drive shaft in reverse whether I have the shifter installed or not. speed up engine and wheels go faster. press in the clutch and wheels slow down.|
let out clutch pedal wheels move until I press on the brake.engine cuts off. I have movement in the slave. I CANNOT GET THE GEAR SHIFTER TO LIGN UP WITH ANYTHING IN THE TRANNY SO I CAN SHIFT OUT OF REVERSE!!!!! I may have taken the shifter out in the reverse position before I pulled the tranny. What do I need to do to get the shifter to go into the tranny so it is in the revers position that the tranny is obviously in???

|Hello.. I have a few question.. I have recently purchased a 96 ford ranger 2 wheel drive.. Its a 5spd manual and Ive always had problems shifting it.. the clutch compresses very easy and im sure it needs replaced.. thought im not sure if its the clutch, pressure plate, master or the slave.. Im still using it and am hoping for a cheap fix.. At the moment i have to start is in either reverse or first gear ( which ever way i plan on moving) eg.. leaving a parking spot i start it in reverse, once backed out I have to turn it off and put it in 1st then restart the truck... it is very hard to up and down shift through all gears.. any advise or help would be much appretiated!!|

|Test drive from where you met the "guy" to your local marcus then test drive back to where you met the "guy" if no problems with your clutch show up and the engine compartment isnt oiled up then take it to a shop for the error codes|
