99 ranger clunking noise on take off

has anyone felt and heard a clunking noise from under there truck on take off? if so what was the problem?

I have that problem too. I think it is the transmission is not downshifting into 1st when stopping. Then shifts when the truck starts to move. I could be wrong but that's what mine feels like. Because if you let it roll about 5 ft. before accelerating it doesn't do it.

i have a 98 ranger 4x4 and had the same problem. it is the slip joint on the drive shaft. the spline needs to be greased. clunking will stop.
