Phil, if you get a response, please let me know. I've got exactly the same thing happening. My Engine Needs Service light finally went out, only to be replaced by the airbag light... This is the first link I clicked on, so the answer may be out there in cyberspace.Joe jmkeene@tampabay.rr.com BTW Mine is a 1998 Ford E350 V10... so it must be a common code.

I found another link that mentioned checking the yellow wire bundle under the seats. I fiddled with mine (they seemed ok) and the problem went away...Might want to try it! Joe

The light for the airbag is also a seatbelt sensor just under the driver seat.... there is a cable harness that runs under the floor to the seat belt. This is connected to the SRS system. The cable is too short. If you move the seat too far back the cable can disconnect alerting the warning light. However, This deactivates the air bag. Ford issued Bulletin #03103 to dealers on this problem but will not issue a recall.

Yes you have to go to your dealership and they will fixed that for you, its probably the seat belt harness where you press it that needs to be replaced. www.airbagsaveslives.com

This airbag light thing is pretty common in Fords. I had a 2002 Ford Escape XLS, but had the exact same problem mentioned above. What I did, is disconnect the airbag plug that is located underneath the driver's seat. Clean the electrical prongs with a dry toothbrush or any bristle brush. After reconnecting, the light should not come on anymore. I didn't have any problems for about 6 months, that's when the blinking airbag light came back. I disconnected the plug again and cleaned it once again. This time I bent the metal prongs just a tad bit and then reconnected them again. I think the prongs don't get very much contact, so bending just a bit should help that. This time the light never came back on....

Thanks Pumpkinescobar - I had the 4-6 blinking in a F250, I followed your advice and disconected the yellow clips/wires and re-connected and the light is gone! Thanks again.

I had the same 4-7 code. I tried the harness under the driver seat and the light still came on. I tried the harness under the passenger seat and the light went off.

The restraints control module (RCM) monitors the resistance of the circuit to the passenger safety belt pretensioner. If the RCM detects a resistance that is out of the range on the passenger safety belt pretensioner circuits, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1881 or B1886 in memory and flash, depending on the fault indicator, and lamp fault code (LFC) 47 depending on the fault (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.Fault Conditions The RCM monitors for the following fault conditions: low resistance. high resistance. circuit open. Possible Causes A safety belt pretensioner fault can be caused by: damaged wiring, terminals or connectors. a faulted pretensioner. a faulted RCM. In plain English, the passenger seat belt buckle/pretensioner assembly is more than likely inoperative and needs to be replaced, unless the circuit to it is open. Hope this helps.

When I bought my 2001 Ranger the Air Bag light would come on. I took it back to the Dealer over half dozen times till they corrected it. Put in a complete new wiring harness inside the truck. Its been over 8 yrs and the light is back. Along with it I loose the Blower for my heater & a/c. I took it to NTB who replaced a Relay switch for the Blower which corrected the Air bag light. They did it three times, last was free. Well its happened a fourth time and NTB said to take it to Ford. I'll give the air bag plug a try, but the relay switch for the Blower is a different thing "I think". Something keeps tripping it. Anyone have any ideas.
