Ford-Mustang - 351 cleveland
Derek Banowetz (68.230.88.168) - Sun Nov 20 12:25:04 2005
Will my 351 Cleveland fit in my 67 mustang coupe with headders. Will the headders be able to get past the gearbox that came with my car stock or will I need to go to an aftermarket rack an pinion set up. If so how do I get a phone number or part number, and will I just have a knucled shaft from the column to the rack and pinion

I have a 351 Cleveland in a Shelby Cobra that I can't keep cool. New radiator, water pump, shrouded electric fan, thermostat (180), etc.I put a laser temp, gun on the top radiator hose and it read 102, while the bottom read 185. This appears that these readings should have been reversed ?? Could this be my problem ? I am running surpentine belts. How do I check ??

I have a 351C was recently rebuilt now has sun bearings. It will need a crank kit and bearings and a block wash. It has a rough sounding cam but thats all I know about it. The heads have been recently been rebuilt has a cloys bouble roller. I also have an after market torque coverter that was used with for the lumpy cam. It fits a FMX transmission. I am asking $500 for everything discribed.

I see lots of folks believe they hav a 351 Clev. in their vehicle.Any vehicles produced after 1974 did not come with a 351 Clevland which is included in the Big Block family. Most 351 cubic inch engines espically after 1974 were 351 modified and most were in trucks. There were very few 351 c's during the 1974 year. They were mainly the leftovers from 1973 and probably were presented in the early part of 1974.The true Clevland engines with both 4 bbl and 2 bbl were produced during 1970 through 1974 and those years only.351 C have thicker cylinder walls and heavier main bearing webbs which makes it a good foundation for performance applications.Block identification is rather simple and straightforward ie.D0AE-D Blocks have 2 bolt mains. D0AE-C and D3ZE-A have 4 bolt mains. 351 W blocks produced during 1969 through 1971 and their casting numbers are C9OE and D1AE now have fun with your searches.

almost every engine question here can be answered by looking up ford v8 engines on wikipedia, alot of misconceptions here!......larry your engine temp is correct, 185 in the bottom then cools as it is forced up thru rad, exits top hose back into engine......351c or m, same block, m just has smog dog heads, cam, intake, etc.....even 351c 2bbl heads w/4bbl intake, dual exhust, better cam will wake up an M block, even the 2bbl heads ex/int valves are way larger than chevy 2.02 heads, plus will give higher compression, with the smaller chambers, a little flaring on in/ex ports to mate up better w/ the performance intake/exhust works great!, plus they are cheap, and will run on cheap gas, ......the difference is the C 4bbl heads have even larger valves and larger in/ex ports, even smaller chambers and are rare and expensive!, will need high octane gas!, don't forget distributor, stock points crap out at 5000 rpm.....351c, m's will need a c6 tranny, besides the larger bolt up, you will need the extra clutch paks, a c4 won't hold up.....plus you need the short tailshaft, the heavy front suspension, the heavy driveshaft with the correct splines, then replace your 8 3/4 inch rear axle w/ a 9 inch.......although it has been done well by some folks, trying to fit or find all this for anything earlier than a 1970 ford (any type) will involve a LOT of extra work and $$$......forget the 400, the taller deck height, makes finding performance parts harder, plus the squarer bore/stroke will not rev as fast, better to bore out a cheap m block to keep the shorter stroke, do the 2bbl c heads, (earlier the better 69-71's) plus the standard performance mods......then go fast cheap!......and remember......"drive it like you stole it!

I just dropped a valve in my 351c, It stuck in the piston and hammered he head. I have heard that if the head isn't cracked it may be repaired. Is this true?I would love to save all of the parts and keep my 73 Mach1 original. Thanks!

I have a 351 motor. I won't say it's a Cleveland although I believe it to be. The Block casting # is D2AECA The head casting # is D1ZEDA. Can anyone HELP me with figuring out what year and what actual motor These heads and motor are for sure? The (The Heads ) are open chamber. The intake is stock Iron 4 V. When we figure out what we have , I'd like all your opinions on what would be the best street/strip build on pump fuel, and spend around 3, 500.00 bucks including whatever machine work it will need. I'm thinking 373 gears, but I'm open to all opinions and help anyone has for me. Thanks for all your help, Fritz P.s. it's got a C6 Automatic in it now.

i have a 70 mustang with a 351c in her it runs well but temperature is abit off i think when idling, it runs at about quarter to half way on the gauge but as soon as i put her in gear and start moving even as slow as 10mls an hr or as fast as 80mls an hr she heats up to around 3/4 on the gauge. flushed the rad and engine new coolant and oil made no diference have i got a problem or not? the car did 500mls at the weekend and didnt seem to be efected but still need to be sure.

I have a 67 mustang with a 351c4v. Took a r.u.g. 4 spd out of a 81 f150 and bolted the bellhousing and tranny right in the car with no modification (except for gearshifter hole). I have an aluminum radiator and I noticed it does get mighty hot still, motor seems ok with it though. found an 8" true posi yesterday and swooped up on that bad boy..two strips every time from now on.
