My 06 Ford Fusion has just failed its first MOT on a broken spring from the front passenger side. The broken end of the spring looks rusty and I am wondering how long it has been like this. The car has only done 13, 000 miles. Surely a suspension spring should last longer than this. I can't recall any obvious pot holes or simsilar.

I had the same at 25, 000 miles, i had recently puchased the car from a ford dealer (used) and had to have the shock and spring replaced under warranty, it does appear this is quite common.
