Ford-Focus - Low idle... dies at stop light

About two months ago my battery light illuminated... Then I started to have a problem with the battery going dead. I changed the battery cable terminals and then a new problem started. Now while driving my car will not idle correctly and upon pulling up to stop lights or stop signs it will die... I read the owners manual and specifically recall the information in it regarding automatic idle relearning process when changing the battery or disconnecting it, but this process does not seem to help me... I just got finished replacing a sensor or plug on my alternator but the wires on the new plug were different colors than on the old plug and I do not know which should be tied in to which. the old colors were red, light blue, and gray. The new colors are yellow, orange, and white. Don't know whats causing illuminated light or bad idle... any suggestions?

I had the same problem with my focus not too long ago. It would die at stop lights. The cause ended up being a cracked PCV tube.
